Avast won me away from Norton Anti-Virus back in the day, simply because it was so fast starting up Windows. So the lack of controls that allow you to change settings on ads and pop ups and the more confusing interface might be tolerable, but the slow speed is not. The 2 prior viruses that got through, I was able to fix with help that I found on Google.
With this latest one I cant get my computer to do a thing and there are so many error messages we can't keep track of them.
) As it is, the only way I could show my appreciation with this software is to share an honest, sound, and "not under duress" so to speak opinion/review of this great software. I've never had any problems with malware since the program added the new anti-spyware engine to its very good anti-virus engine. With the latest version (v6), avast now has 8 real-time shields and 3 additional protection. Just set up Avast and forget about it; let it do its job quietly and effectively without bugging you all the time.
Fantastic security; I run it alongside Kaspersky 2009 and have never had a problem that one or other of these two has not dealt with.
Its light on resources, free, pretty accurate and has, for example, coped with every USB malware my students could throw at me (not that they do it on purpose, just every 80 of the machines in this country are infested including the park in the computer study hall).
